Knowing how to manage your employees is a great start for you. If you can manage your employees, you can manage how they dress, how they greet customers, how to talk to customers, how to multi-task, and more. These are all things that you can do to implement good employee habits.
You will also want them to learn some customer service skills. Whenever a new customer comes in, ask them if they need help with anything. Greet them with the utmost respect and courtesy, and just make them feel like a great person. Have your employees be in background waiting until a customer has a question for one of them.
Some employees will work hard to carry out your tasks and customer service skills. And then there are others who won’t contribute as much as you would like them to be. In short, they’re there for a paycheck – and a paycheck only. It’s up to you to spot out these employees so that you can question them on why they aren’t going hard enough for you.
Tell them that if they don’t pick up slack, you’ll find someone else to replace them. The bottom line is that there are a lot of people out of work right now, and any one of them will be able to replace the employee who isn’t working as hard as they should be. Look for a customer who’s there to have a successful career there, and who has goals that they want to achieve – inside the business.
I was never a tough employee. I was there before the clock started, and was gone when it was needed to leave work. I was an employee that did what the boss ordered, and because of it, I earned a monthly team member of the crew award, and I still have that award in my room till this day.
To build a successful business, you have to build a success employment crew. These are the people who will be doing the selling for you, so it’s a good idea to hire those employees who you think will make a positive increase within a matter of days.
Using these techniques, you’ll be able to hire competent and long-term employees that will make you more profitable. Because that’s the goal, isn’t it? And if an employee isn’t operating at a high enough level, you should consider getting rid of this person who won’t do right in your business.
